The programme is to highlight actual case studies in the implementation of new technological solutions

Numerous front-line companies have confirmed their participation in the Maintenance Innovation Conference, which is to take place at Bilbao Exhibition Centre on June 2-3. Day one will feature representatives of General Electric Automation & Controls, LULEA-University of Technology of Sweden, Sisteplant, Ixion, ITP and Petronor, among others, who will analyse advanced maintenance in the context of Industry 4.0. On day two management personnel from DMG MoriSeiki, Siemens, Zayer and Loire Gestamp, to name but a few, will give presentations on technical assistance service and users, under the title “Challenges and trends in the maintenance of machine tools and capital goods”.

One of the main presentations on Thursday 2 will be that of Lennart Christensson, Technical Business Leader Europe for Connected Machines at General Electric. He will be explaining how his firm, one of the world’s biggest capital goods manufacturers, has applied remote diagnostic and control technology to improve customer service under an “industrial Internet” framework. For this US-founded multinational, adopting this network of connected devices, machines and objects has resulted in substantial improvements in performance and revenue.

The attention of delegates on Friday 3 will be focused on Makoto Fujishima, Executive Officer for Manufacturing/Development at DMG Mori Seiki. His paper will present the machine-tool maintenance services offered by his firm, and he will discuss future trends in the area, where reinforcing productivity at customers by minimising potential failures and maximising product quality will be a key issue. Concepts such as predictive maintenance, remote control and quality management will be at the core of his presentation.

The Maintenance Innovation Conference sets out to discuss the latest trends and encourage information sharing between leading players in the value chain in the sector including end-users, technology centres, engineering firms and suppliers at domestic and international level. To that end, the Congress will also feature a commercial exhibition area and a number of networking meetings. The event will offer a unique forum for inter-sectoral relations as it is to be held concurrently with the BIEMH International Machine-Tool Biennial, the biggest industrial trade show in Spain, and with the ADDIT3D International Fair of 3-D and Additive Manufacturing. The MIC is organised by the Bilbao Exhibition Centre and Easyfairs.

The Maintenance Innovation Conference is sponsored by Schaeffler and Ondoan.
